I was born on 16.9 1970, and grew up a little place called Torskangerpoll. I was raised on brassband music, my whole family played in Brassbands, so it was no suprise that I started playing early, in a band called Torskangerpoll Musikklag.

I first played flugel horn, then Trombone (my main instrument now also) in Torskangerpoll Musikklag, I also started to play Electric Bass in a Rock-band, as most teenage rockers we had very high ambitions, this was not matched by our skills
I lived in Torskangerpollen untill I finished High School. I then moved to Hamar to attend Toneheim Folkeh°yskole, a music boarding school, where I was a student 1989/90. After that I went to Trondheim to study more music at the University . I also played in Ila Brass Band (Norwegian Championship section band) and a symphony orch. there.

After Trondheim I moved to Ski in Akershus near Oslo, and started to work at the public music school there. I attended the University of Oslo, and have a degree in Music along with studies in Sociology, and Pedagogy. I've worked with Brass bands, Choirs, Big Bands, and Concert bands, both as a conductor, and as a instrument teacher.

I begun my composing and arranging early doing small pieces for ensembles, but it was not until I started my music studies in Oslo that it really became the main focus of my music life. I have studied music composition and arranging on masters degree level on the Institute for Music and Theatre on the university of Oslo.

In 1996 my first arrangement got published. Since then I have been published with over 150 arrangements and compositions for brassband and concertband.

I now work for Norsk Noteservice doing arrangements and compositions for their catalogues. I also do commissions for band all over Norway. And I am appointed Composer-in-Residence for Oslofjord Brass in Oslo.

Have you ever played in a concert or brass band?
